Fishing Report – June

Estuary

The mullet run continues in the Maroochy River and would have to be the best I’ve seen. The mulloway have been hard to find down-river due to the calm and clear conditions.  The new moon saw a few fish taken as a dark night will have them feeding even in clear water. Rain and sloppy seas offshore would fire them up. Gar have still been hard to find in the Mooloolah River.

Reefs

Calm conditions have seen plenty out chasing reef species.  Amberjack and kings on the wrecks, snapper and pearl perch on the deep reefs.

Light & Heavy Tackle

Not many chasing pelagic species atm. Plenty of bait on the inshore marks. Fraser had micro black marlin on the outside coffee rock.

Somerset

Another great weekend out at the dam. Saturday had a rising barometer and calm conditions.  The bass were schooled up and biting, plenty of 50+cm fish were caught including a 55cm fish. Sunday was the complete opposite, a falling barometer had the fish spread out and with lockjaw.

See you on the water
